The Mac app

Gaffer controls your lights directly over Bluetooth, with no account and no cloud service. Your library is saved on your Mac and your lights’ network keys in the macOS Keychain.

At the end of setup, Gaffer asks whether to share usage data to help find and fix errors. You can change your answer any time in Settings › General. With your yes, Gaffer sends its version, your macOS version, your lights’ models and firmware, how many lights and scenes you have, error counts, how setup and pairing went, and crash details. It never sends the names of your lights or scenes, what your scenes contain, your lights’ addresses or keys, or anything about you.

This data is stored with our hosting provider in Western Europe, seen only by Gaffer’s developer, and deleted after 13 months. Your IP address isn’t stored.

The Stream Deck plugin

The plugin only talks to Gaffer on the same Mac. It collects and sends nothing.

This website

Our hosting provider handles your requests, including your IP address, to serve the site. It also counts visits, which pages are viewed and where visitors come from, without cookies and without identifying or following you. The site’s font comes from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when your browser loads it.

Your rights

Usage data is collected only with your consent. Turning sharing off in Settings stops it from then on. Reports can’t be traced back to you, so they can’t be found or deleted one by one, but every report is deleted after 13 months. If you think your data has been mishandled, you can complain to your data protection authority.

If this policy changes, this page will change first.
