Changelog
What’s new in Gaffer.
The Mac app and the Stream Deck plugin each have their own versions. Gaffer updates itself: when a new version is out, it offers to install it.

Gaffer for Mac
-
v0.3.1
See what’s new before you update.
The update window now tells you what changed, so you can decide when to install.
Improved
- Each update shows its notes above the Install button
- The update window is in English, like the rest of Gaffer
-
v0.3.0
Gaffer updates itself.
No more downloading each new version. Coming from 0.2.0, download this one by hand once; macOS asks one last time for Bluetooth access.
New
- Gaffer looks for a new version once a day and asks before installing it
- Gaffer › Check for Updates… to look right away
- Turn the daily check off in Settings › General
Improved
- Opens without a security warning: Gaffer is now signed and notarized by Apple
-
v0.2.0
First release.
A Mac console for your amaran lights, with setup that doesn’t need amaran Desktop.
New
- Setup from scratch over Bluetooth, or bring your lights and scenes over from amaran Desktop
- Add a light any time, and back up your pairing sealed with a password
- Level and colour for every light
- Scenes: save how your lights look and apply one with a click or a number key
- One blackout that turns every light off and brings each one back as it was
- A map of your set, seen from the desk, with each light where it stands
- Each light’s firmware version, read from the light itself
Reliability
- Connects to every light it can reach, so losing one connection costs nothing
- Reconnects on its own after a drop, after sleep, and when Bluetooth comes back on
- Every change is confirmed by the light, with no stuck values over a 6.5-hour test
Privacy
- Usage data is only shared if you say yes at setup, and you can change your mind in Settings › General. What’s sent

- Light on/off: lit in the light’s colour while it’s on, with a red dot if it isn’t answering
- Brighter / dimmer for one light or all of them, repeating while you hold the key
- Warmer / cooler to shift a light’s colour temperature
Dials
- Master dial: scales every light at once, press for all off
- Light dial: turn for level, tap the screen for colour, press for on or off
